Losing streaks are becoming way too much the norm for the Colorado Rockies, and they are on another one.

After losing the first game of a doubleheader with the Kansas City Royals on Thursday afternoon, the Rockies’ most recent slide was underway and it grew to three games after a 6-2 loss to the Royals in Game Two.

Rookie starter Chase Dollander had another rough outing as the Royals touched him up for five runs on seven hits in 4.2 innings. It was Dollander’s third straight loss after winning his Major League debut.

Of course, Dollander got little to no help from the offense. Jordan Beck homered twice, and three times on the day, but overall, the Rockies left 10 men on base and were 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position. They also struck out nine times, which is right around their season average per nine innings. Jacob Stallings and Adam Schunk each had two hits as well, but it was to no avail as the Rockies’ offense continues to fail in run production, while the starting pitching has been really bad after a strong start.

The loss meant a series sweep at the hands of the Royals, and Colorado will try and turn things around with this weekend’s home series against the Reds, which starts Friday night at Coors Field.

Before the game starts on Friday, here’s three takeaways from the Rockies’ doubleheader loss to the Royals.

3. Rockies big guns can’t hit

Ryan McMahon, Brenton Doyle, Michael Toglia, where were you? The Rockies had a chance to do some damage against average Royals’ pitching on Thursday, and in game two alone, the trio was 2-for-13. That’s a trend that has really plagued the Rockies, and if their best hitters can’t hit consistently, things will continue to spiral.

2. The Rockies don’t have an ace

At least not in Kansas City. Sure, the offense is a hot mess, but on Thursday, German Marquez and Chase Dollander were just as bad on the mound as their teammates were at the plate.

1. What’s got into Jordan Beck

After being sent down in favor of Zav Veen, who is now back in AAA, Beck has returned to Colorado with a vengeance. On Thursday he hit two dingers and had four total hits. Since being recalled, Beck is now hitting .253 with three homers and seven RBI’s. The Rockies’ outfield has been a strength this far, and Beck is proving his doubters wrong.
