What if the Colorado Rockies could do even half of what they did on Saturday night in every game? Or even every other game?
Last night, the worst offense in Major League Baseball thrashed 19 hits and scored 14 runs at Chase Field in Arizona. Just imagine if Colorado could consistently be that good.
Of course, the Rockies haven’t been. Instead, the offense has been consistently bad. And yet, what Rockies fans saw Saturday night in Arizona was what they thought they’d be getting when Colorado was one of the best hitting teams in the Cactus League during spring training.
From Jordan Beck and Hunter Goodman staying on fire, to Ezequiel Tovar having his first career five-hit game, to Kyle Farmer having a huge season. Add in Mike Toglia getting on base and the Rockies gave a glimpse of why they were predicted to have a really good offense in 2025.
That’s right, the Rockies were really supposed to be explosive, but, Toglia and Ryan McMahon slumped right away this season, and the team just seemed to be in a funk at the plate. Injuries would only add to that issue, and then, because of shaky pitching, Colorado’s offense has faltered all season long.
Not however, on Saturday night. Instead, the Rockies broke out, and if they keep doing that, they’re not going to have to worst record in baseball for long.
Time will tell of course, but, the Rockies are indeed capable of being a really good offensive team. They just need to start being that team more often.
