The offensive woes just keep overwhelming the Colorado Rockies.

In the fourth game of the a home series with the Philadelphia Phillies, the Rockies failed to plate a run, and that added to the Rockies’ now seven game losing streak. Thursday afternoon at Coors Field, the Rockies were shut out 2-0.

Colorado, now 8-42 on the season, set the record for the worst 50-game start to any Major League Baseball season since 1901.

Thursday night’s loss didn’t come without an excellent start from German Marquez, who got the loss, but only gave up one run and four hits in seven innings of work. It was a rare quality start for the Rockies, but it mattered none because Colorado’s offense was a no show.

The Rockies did get multiple hits from Jordan Beck, Ezequiel Tovar and Brenton Doyle, but, they were 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left a total of 10 men on base. As a team, Colorado his now hitting just .231 on the season, and the Rockies are last in run differential in all of baseball.

Things won’t get any easier either, as the Rockies welcome in the New York Yankees for a three-game set Memorial Day Weekend. Game One is set for Friday night as Tanner Gordon gets the start for Colorado. First pitch its set for 6:40 p.m. M.D.T., at Coors Field.
