Once again, the Colorado Rockies are trying anything they can to get a handle on what has been a disastrous 2025 so far.

After the Rockies’ 21-0 loss to the San Diego Padres Saturday night, they made several pitching moves on Sunday morning, including sending Bradley Blalock to AAA. Blalock too the loss in giving up 13 runs in Saturday night’s debacle and was 0-2 since returning the big show in place of injured Ryan Feltner. Right-handed reliever Juan Meija was also optioned to AAA, while RHP Anthony Molina was called up from AAA and the Rockies bought the contract of lefty Ryan Rollison.

Pitching is a big problem for Colorado right now, especially starters. Colorado has won six games this season, and only Chase Dollander has multiple wins for the Rox. But, in their last six games, Colorado’s starting ERA is over 11 and the Rockies have the worst run differential in baseball.

No one knows if the pitching changes will make much difference, and there are likely even more AAA options coming, including top prospect Carson Palmquist, who has had a good season in Albuquerque.

But, pitching is only part of the problem. Colorado has injury issues, too.

On Sunday, the Rockies transferred Kris Bryant to the 60-day Il. Bryant has been hurt since Mid-April and underwent a back procedure.

The Rockies finish their series with the Padres this afternoon at 1:10 p.m. M.D.T., before heading to Arlington for three games against the Rangers. Dollander, Kyle Freeland and Antonio Senzatela are scheduled to start the three games in Texas.
