For the second time in less than a week, the Colorado Rockies will have to play a daylight doubleheader.
Out of an abundance of caution, tonight's game has been postponed and will be played as the second game of a traditional doubleheader tomorrow, starting at 1:10 p.m. CT.

On Wednesday night, the Rockies’ game at Kansas City was rained out, which means the Rockies and Royals will play twice on Thursday. After a rain delay of more than two hours prior to first pitch, the game was moved to Thursday, to be played as part of a traditional doubleheader. First pitch for Game One will be 12:10 M.D.T. with the second hame to be played at 3:10 p.m.
Rockies RHP Germán Márquez (0-3, 8.27 ERA) is slated to start against LHP Cole Ragans (1-1, 3.58) in the opener before right-hander Chase Dollander (1-2, 7.36) is expected to pitch against Royals RHP Michael Lorenzen (1-3, 4.57).
The Rockies also played a doubleheader against the Washington Nationals on Sunday afternoon, and got a split before heading to Kansas City. On Tuesday night, the Rockies fell at the hands of the Royals 4-3 in 11 innings, and will look to bounce back on Thursday after a day of rest.
Since Colorado has experience with doubleheaders now, here’s three things the Rockies need in order to leave Kansas City with a couple of wins.
3. Drive in runs
Colorado is dead last in Major League Baseball in runners in scoring position. The Rockies also lead the league in strikeouts on offense per nine innings. If the Rockies can beat those averages on Thursday, they could leave K.C. with not one, but two wins.
2. Get two quality starts
Marquez has yet to win a game this season, and only has one quality start in four tries. Dollander has three quality starts since being called up but was roughed up in his last outing. If the duo can follow Ryan Feltner’s excellent start on Tuesday, it would help out a struggling Rockies’ offense, and could lead to a couple of victories.
1. Hit more then one homer please
The Rockies don’t just need to score more runs, they need to start bashing the ball. Colorado came into the season expecting the long ball to be part of its identity. And yet, Michael Toglia has just one homer this season, while Ryan McMahon has just two. Instead, outfielders Brenton Doyle and Mickey Moniak and rookie Hunter Goodman are leading the Rockies with just three apiece. Colorado needs its big hitters to start hitting big, and it needs to start against he Royals.
