The Colorado Rockies can’t seem to catch a break.
After putting together back-to-back wins for the first time all season, the Rockies got bad news on Friday as they placed arguably their best starter on the 15-day Injured List. Colorado placed Ryan Feltner on IR retroactive to April 29. Bradley Blalock, who had been at AAA, is already on the roster and will start in place of Feltner.
Feltner was consistent in his starts for Colorado thus far. He has a 4.75 ERA through 30-plus innings over six starts. Feltner has 25 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.48 while going 0-2 on the season.
Feltner is the second starter to be taken out of the rotation this season. Austin Gomber was shut down in spring training and is now on the 60-day IL. Last year, the Rockies lost German Marquez and Antonio Senzatela for significant time as well.
And whether it’s injuries or otherwise, Colorado’s starting pitching has really struggled in 2025. The Rockies’ team ERA is over six, and Chase Dollander’s two wins is a team-high.
Add that to a struggling bullpen, and an offense that has been stuck in the mud for over a month, and it’s now wonder the Rockies are off to their worst start in franchise history.
And missing Feltner won’t help that cause one bit.
