The Colorado Rockies are really putting in a lot of work to prepare their pitching staff for the 2025 season. And with that season less than a month away now, the Rockies are making plenty of strides.

Those improvements were on display Sunday in Colorado’s 6-1 win over the Seattle Mariners at Salt River Fields.

The pitching was a big story for the Rockies, even with Austin Gomber scratched from a scheduled appreance due to soreness in his shoulder. Instead, Colorado got another positive outing from German Marquez, who, in two innings of work, allowed a pair of hits, but no runs, while striking out two. Marquez is working his way back from a 2024 injury, and is pitching well.

Colorado’s bullpen was also really good on Sunday, as six pitchers combined for one run and just two hits in seven innings.

The Rockies continued their spring onslaught at the plate, and many younger players came through in the eight-hit effort.

Adeal Amador continued to make a strong push with a hit and an RBI, while Kyle Karros had a two-run double. Zac Veen and Yanquiel Fernandez were among other prospects who continued to play well for the Rockies, who improved 7-3 and 5-0 at home in Cactus League play.

The Rockies will return to action on Monday when they visit the Angels at 1:10 p.m.

Note: On Saturday, the Rockies placed RHP Justin Lawrence on waivers.
