When a team is going through the turmoil the Colorado Rockies are at present time, things get overlooked. Usually, good things.
One of those good things that has been overshadowed by the Rockies having the worst start in baseball, and the recent firing of Bud Black, has been the continued strong play of left fielder Jordan Beck.
Beck has been on an absolute tear for the Rockies after being sent down to AAA in just the second week of the regular season. And while some might of thought he’d cool off eventually, they would be wrong.
The 2022 No. 38 overall pick from Tennessee had a good April, but May has been even better. Beck just finished a 10-game hitting streak and has upped his average .265 on the season. Beck’s power numbers have been solid, too. He’s got an OPS of .866 and an .OBO if .327, while he has 27 hits and six homers.

Batting behind Brenton Doyle has certainly helped Beck adjust as well, and, all that has had added up to the 24-year-old talent being one of the most reliable Rockies on the roster.
That’s a far cry from the guy who got sent down to AAA just over a month ago, so everyone has to be really happy for Beck, who is also an uber-talented outfielder with seemingly unlimited range.
Beck’s rise to this level of play has been really fast, too. And that also might be why he has gone through struggles as well. Drafted just three years ago, Beck only made his Major League debut last season, too, with a track to the bigs that fast, there was bound to be bumps in the road.
But, at least on an individual basis, it’s been smooth sailing for Beck this season. And he, and the Rockies are hoping that keeps going, because, Colorado needs all the help it can get.
And “Mike Honcho” as Beck has been nicknamed, seems to be just the guy to provide the struggling franchise with the help it needs.
