Even though the Colorado Rockies have managed to plate some runs the last two nights, the offense still hasn’t been good enough.
On Tuesday night, the Rockies lost 6-2 to the Dodgers, as they managed just five hits in what was their fifth straight loss. The Rockies got a two RBI double from catcher Jacob Stallings, but, that was it as Colorado once again left runners in scoring position, and struck out a whopping 10 times.
The loss also fell on the shoulders of Ryan Feltner, who gave up five runs on five hits as Colorado lost for the fifth straight time and dipped to 3-14 on the season. The Rockies will return to Dodger Stadium Wednesday night with German Marquez on the hill. The first pitch is set for 8:10 p.m. M.D.T.
Before the Rockies try to turn things around on Wednesday, here’s three takeaways from Tuesday night’s loss.
- Adeal Amador hits
The rookie did strike out three times, but he also collected a hit and made some strong plays in the field. With Kyle Farmer likely continuing to move around as the Rockies deal with injuries, Amador should get more time to prove himself.
- Ugly Stats
The Rockies left seven on base and were a horrific 1-for-10 in scoring position. It may be beating a dead horse, but that kind of lack offensive production can’t continue or Colorado could be heading towards the worse offensive season in MLB history.
- Outfielders continue to hit
Mickey Moniak and Nick Martini had hits tonight as Brenton Doyle had the night off. The Rockies continue to plug in and get at least some offensive production for their young outfield, so it’s really starting to look like trading Nolan Jones and sending down Jordan Beck was the right moves.
Extra Bases: The night was still a special one for the Rockies. While it was Jackie Robinson Day all around Major League Baseball, the Rockies played in L.A. and got to be a part of the Dodgers honoring one of their greatest heroes.
