The Colorado Rockies just can’t seem to get it together.
On Tuesday night at Coors Field, the Rockies fell behind 7-1 to the Philadelphia Phillies in what ended up being a 7-4 loss. The Rockies managed to score the final three runs of the game, but it was too little, too late, as they lost their third straight outing.
For the second straight night, the Phillies had double-digit hits as they pounded out 14 hits, including Kyle Schwarber’s second homer in as many nights. Antonio Senzatela went six full innings of work, but he gave up 10 hits and four runs before the Rockies bullpen struggled as well.
It was another rough night for the Rockies’ offense, too. Colorado managed eight hits, but struck out 11 times, a stat the Rockies lead the league in. Tyler Freeman, who is recently off the IL, led Colorado with a 3-for-4 night, but it wasn’t enough as the Rockies fell to 8-40 on the season, the worst first 48 games in Major League Baseball history.
Colorado rookie Carson Palmquist makes his second start when they host the Phillies again tonight at 6:40 p.m. M.D.T.
