For the second time this season, the Colorado Rockies have lost eight straight games. Yes, a historically bad first month of 2025 came to an end Tuesday night with another loss to the Atlanta Braves.

Coors Field was the scene as the Rockies’ offense again struggled in an 8-2 defeat as they dropped to 4-25 on the season.

Michael Toglia was the lone bright spot for Colorado as the Rockies managed just six hitts. Toglia drove in both runs as Colorado struck out seven times. The Braves meanwhile, blasted the Rockies for 14 hits and ran starter German Marques out of the game as he gave up 11 hits and seven runs. Marquez dropped to 0-5 in 2025 as a tough return to the mound got even tougher.

The Rockies will now try and salvage one win in their six-game homestead when they play the Braves Wednesday at 1:10 M.D.T. in Denver. Chase Dollander starts for the Rockies and Chris Sale will go for the Braves.

Here’s three takeaways from Tuesday night’s game at Coors Field.

  • Historically bad numbers

After Tuesday night’s loss, the Rockies have fallen to being on pace to win just 21 games this season. They also have lost 16 of their last 17 games, and their last win came against the Nationals back on April 20.

  • Bullpen help

Marquez struggled, but Colorado’s bullpen kept the Braves quiet from there. Jimmy Herget, Seth Halvorsen and Scotty Alexander held the Braves to just two runs and three hits in their three innings of work, and anytime Colorado’s bullpen performs well, its a win for the Rockies.

  • Toglia slowly coming alive

Toglia hit his third homer of the season, a solo shot in the second. He’s also up to 13 RBIs now,.and has raised his average from .171 to 214 in the last week. Toglia was off to a terrible start and still has a ways to go, but, he’s coming out of that slump at home and that’s a good sign as well.
