Losing streaks can be brutal. The Colorado Rockies know all about it.
On Monday night at Coors Field, the Rockies lost their seventh straight game as they fell to the Atlanta Braves 6-3. The loss was particularly disheartening since the Rockies scored three runs right away, but then never crossed home plate again. The loss also dropped Colorado to 4-24 on the season.
Things did seem to go right for the Rockies has Hunter Goodman hit a three-run blast in the first inning to put the Rockies up 3-0, their biggest lead in more then a week. Things would unravel from there however, as starter Ryan Feltner surrendered 10 hits in just three more innings, and the Rockies’ offense went just 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

The Rockies also left seven men on base, including Alan Trejo, Adeal Amador and Jordan Beck, who all hit doubles. The Rockies also struck out seven times, which is just one game below their average for nine innings as the offensive woes continue.
Colorado now has its longest losing streak of the season, a streak the Rockies will try and snap Tuesday night when they host the Braves at 6:10 M.D.T. at Coors Field. Chase Dollander will get the start for Colorado.
Before Tuesday night’s game, here’s three takeaways from Monday’s loss to the Braves.
- Beck continues to stay hot
Two more hits for Jordan Beck, who is batting over .280 since returning from AAA. He’s easily been Colorado’s best hitter, and the Rockies need even more from him as the injuries pile up and other starters can’t get going at the plate.
- No quality starts
Feltner had been Colorado’s best starter. Not on Monday however. He gave up 10 hits, five runs and walked one in what was his second loss of the season. Colorado starters are now up to a combined 6.8 ERA, which is the worst in the National League. Hopefully, Dollander can buck that trend on Tuesday.
- At least they’re hitting the long ball
It took a couple of weeks, but, the Rockies are finally starting to hit more homers. Goodman his fifth of the season on Monday night, and the Rockies hit a bunch over the last week. If Colorado can start increase its power, more runs will come, and more runs can lead to at least, a few more wins.
