The Rockies finally got back into the spring training win column, launching four home runs to defeat the Athletics.

Chase Dollander got the nod for Colorado in this matchup, going three innings and giving up one run on four hits while walking two and striking out two.

You'd like to see a zero in that walk column, but Chase has been off to a solid start this spring with a 2.57 ERA after today's game.

Speaking of solid starts, Kyle Karros is all but locking up Colorado's everyday third base job—if that wasn't already the plan.

Karros went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in the fifth inning, his second of the spring.

TJ Rumfield is battling for the open first base job in Colorado, and he's currently in the driver's seat for the position.

Rumfield went 1-for-2 with his fourth home run of the spring, adding two walks and three runs scored.

News and notes from Colorado's 11-6 win over the A's

  • No. 2 prospect Charlie Condon is human after all. He started in right field today and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout.
  • Zac Veen also struggled, going 0-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout.
  • Brett Sullivan has been on fire this spring for the Rockies. The catcher went 2-for-3, including a three-run home run in the second inning.
  • Jimmy Herget was solid in relief, spelling Dollander by striking out four over two innings while allowing just one hit.
  • Tyler Freeman went 1-for-2 in the leadoff spot with a walk and an RBI single in the fourth inning.

The Rockies return to action tomorrow night when they face the Dodgers at 6:05pm MST. The game will air on MLB Network.
