The Colorado Rockies seem unable to catch any sort of break right now.

Already on a six-game losing streak, the Rockies announced Saturday morning that they were placing star shortstop Ezequiel Tovar on the 10-day injured list with a deep bruise on his left hip. In his place, Colorado called up Aaron Schunk from AAA Albuquerque.

"This was unfortunate," Rockies manager Bud Black said per ESPN.com. "There were a couple of plays, over the course of this year, where he dove, landed on his hip, and it's bruised. He's in some discomfort."

And if that wasn’t enough, the Rockies also had two recall Jordan Beck from AAA as well as they placed center fielder Brenton Doyle on the bereavement list.

Beck started the year with the big-league club, what was sent down in favor of Zac Veen at the beginning of the month.

Doyle is batting .315 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in 13 games this season, while Beck, who turned 24 on Saturday, was 3-for-20 with an RBI in nine games for Colorado before being sent down.

And if injuries weren’t piling up, the Rockies suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the Washington Nationals on Saturday afternoon. After Friday night’s game was postponed due to snow, the Rockies fell behind the Nats 11-2 at Coors Field, only to storm back but come up short 12-11 in a wild game.

In a crazy seventh inning, Sean Bouchard drove in two runs with a triple, while Michael Toglia also drove in a run. Later, Beck, in his return to Denver, but the second triple of the inning two plate two more runs and pull the Rockies to within 12-10. Mickey Moniak would triple in Hunter Goodman in the ninth to make it a one-run game, but that’s where things ended as the Nats held on.

The game started with a Rocky four innings from star Chase Dollander, who gave up four homers and six earned runs while striking out five. But, the Rockies’ offense would respond, just as it did in a narrow loss to the Dodgers back on Wednesday night.

In all, the Rockies had just eight hits but Moniak went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI’s while Beck drove in three in his return to Coors. Bouchard also had a pair of hits, but the Rockies still fell to 3-16 on the season.

Now, Colorado will have to play two on Sunday. The first game is set for 1:10 p.m. M.D.T. as Kyle Freeland gets the start, while the second game is slated to start at 6:10 p.m.  featuring Antonio Senzatela.

Saturday also saw the Rockies transfer Austin Gomber to the 60-day IL.
