Opening Day in Denver is always exciting.

The Colorado Rockies have some of the most loyal fans in all of Major League Baseball, and whether it’s a lousy record or lousy weather, the first home game each year in Coors Field is special.

Well, Friday has a little it of both as the Rockies return to Denver to host the Athletics with the first pitch set for 2:10 p.m. M.D.T.

Of course, Colorado is coming home off a 1-5 start to the season. Offensively, the Rockies are hitting a terrible .182, and have scored a measly 10 runs in six games. They also have just three home runs, with power hitters Michael Toglia, Kris Bryant and Jordan Beck combining for just for just four hits and no homers on the season.

The team ERA is a little better at just over four, and Colorado’s starting pitchers and defense have been really good this season. But, if the Rockies can’t score, it doesn’t matter much, so hopefully a return to Coors Field will do the club some good.

The A’s haven’t been a whole lot better, as they come to Denver at 2-5. They do however have 11 homers on the season, and can produce runs. No longer Oakland, the A’s seem to be playing with a chip on their shoulder this season, and that’s always dangerous.

Colorado and Oakland will meet for a three-game set starting Friday when the Rockies start Ryan Feltner (0-0, 3.6 ERA) against Osvaldo Bido (1-0, 1.8 ERA) on Friday (weather permitting). On Saturday, German Marquez (0-0, 0.0 ERA) makes his second start for the Rockies against J.P. Sears (0-1, 2.7 ERA), and on Sunday, The Rockies are set to see Austin Gomber make his season debut though that’s still TBD, while the A’s are scheduled to pitch Joey Estes (0-1, 13.5 ERA).

Though it has been snowing in Denver, here is what fans need to know about the Rockies’ home opener per a Rockies press release.
