The Colorado Rockies are on yet another losing streak. And now they have to play one of the most talented teams in all of baseball. So snapping that streak won’t be easy.

The Rockies were just swept in Chicago earlier this week, dropping their record to historically bad 9-47 as they take their struggles to New York City for a three-game set with he N.Y. Mets. Colorado is three games shy of setting the record for becoming the fastest team to lose 50 games in MLB history, and stopping that from happening against the Mets will be very difficult.

First off, the Rockies are dead last in several pitching categories and the same on the offensive side. Meanwhile, the Mets are 34-22 and are having a strong first season with star Juan Soto in the lineup. Secondly, Colorado has won just three road games this season, so, not matter who the Rockies play, winning on the road has been next to impossible.

And will be tough at Citi Field.

The series begins Friday night when the Rockies and Mets meet at 5:10 p.m. M.D.T. The Rockies will send out winless Kyle Freeland (0-7, 5.86 ERA, 44 SO) against N.Y.’s David Peterson (3-2, 2.79 ERA, 54 SO). Freeland, despite being winless thus far, has pitched really well in his last two starts, but, like all Colorado pitchers, they are getting little to no help from the offense.

The series will continue Saturday when they meet at 2:10 p.m. M.D.T. Antonio Senzatela (1-9, 6.50 ERA, 29 SO) faces Kodai Senga (5-3, 1.46 ERA, 52 SO). The series wraps up Sunday at 11:40 a.m. M.D.T. with Carson Palmquist (0-3, 8.78 ERA, 6 SO) taking on Clay Holmes (5-3, 2.98 ERA, 56 SO).

The Rockies are in the middle of their first nine-game road trip of 2025. Colorado also travels to Miami for three games next week.
