A new series, yet nothing seems to change for the Colorado Rockies.

Coming off a road sweep in Texas, the Rockies moved on to Phoenix on Friday night, yet things didn’t turn around. Instead, they may have gotten worse.

Against the N.L. West rival Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field, the Rockies were shut out, 8-0, marking their fifth straight loss. It was also the fourth try for new skipper Warren Schaeffer to get his first victory.

Colorado’s offense was atrocious despite the club receiving good news as short stop Ezequiel Tovar returned to the lineup after missing more then three weeks on IL. And Tovar responded with his first hit in over a month, but, it was one of only two hits the Rockies had on the night, as Hunter Goodman had the other.

On the mound, rookie Carson Palmquist was brought up from AAA to make his first start of 2025, and it didn’t go well either. Palmquist gave up five runs and six hits in four innings in his MLB debut as he took the loss. Overall, the Diamondbacks had 12 hits, which was more then enough for Corbin Burnes, which shut down the Rockies over six innings.

Colorado is now a dismal 7-37 as the Rockies meet the D-Backs again on Saturday at 6:10 p.m. as German Marquez takes the mound.
