The Colorado Rockies returned to the diamond after a rainout on Wednesday night in Kansas City, but, in Game One of a day-time doubleheader with the Royals on Thursday, it was more of the same.
The Rockies squandered an early 4-1 lead after three innings, and would go on to lose to the Royals 7-4.
Things looked good for Colorado early on as Hunter Goodman hit a two-run homer in the third inning for what was his second and third RBIs of the game. Jordan Beck, just back up from AAA, also homered in the second inning, as the Rockies hit multiple homers in a game for just the third time this season.

However, German Marquez couldn’t get to the fifth inning, as he gave up eight hits and six runs in four innings, as Colorado fell behind for good. The Rockies’ bullpen allowed just one more run, but once again, the offense faltered. Colorado left three men in scoring position in the final four innings, as the Rockies fell to 4-19 overall.
The Rockies also managed just four hits, despite scoring four runs. Goodman had a great day, as did Beck as the duo combined for all four hits. The Rockies struck out seven times as well.
Colorado and Kansas City are currently in the second game of the doubleheader with Chase Dollander on the mound for the Rockies.
