Sometimes things have a funny way of working out. That’s certainly the case for Colorado Rockies outfielder Jordan Beck.
Thus far in 2025, Beck has been on a wild ride with Colorado, a ride that includes being penciled in as the starting left fielder in the winter. Then, Beck arrived at spring training with plenty of fanfare, only to struggle mightily at the plate. And while Nolan Jones was traded, and it looked like Beck’s spot in the outfield was secure, things weren’t as they seemed.
Just one week into the regular season, Beck was sent down to AAA Albuquerque in favor of Rockies’ prospect Zac Veen. The Rockies also added former No.1 overall pick Mickey Moniak to the roster just one day before the season started, while Nick Martini and Sean Bouchard were kept on the 26-man roster as well.
All of a sudden, Beck’s future in the Mile High outfield was in doubt.
Things though, have a funny way of working out.
A week ago, Beck was recalled from AAA, and Veen went back down. And since that time, it’s been game over.
Beck’s immense talent in the outfield was never in question, but, his hitting has been all over the place. However, in one week back in the majors, Beck has crushed five homers, including two multi-homer games and has driven in nine runs in just 23 at-bats. And after a slow start and a quick trip down to AAA, Beck has, in one week, become one of the Rockies’ best hitters.

“He’s being aggressive and he’s getting to the fastball,” Bud Black said of Beck on MLB.com. “It’s great. Good for him, he’s getting an opportunity and he’s making the most of it.”
No doubt, that’s exactly what Beck has done since being called back up to Denver. And no doubt, he’s doing what he’s doing because he has a chip on his shoulder after being shipped off to Albuquerque.
Of course, that’s baseball. It’s a what have you done for me lately job, and for now, Jordan Beck is back with a vengeance, and he’s doing plenty for the Rockies.
