No one knows when the Colorado Rockies are going to turn this thing around. After all, they are the Rockies.

And yet, the Rockies’ loyal fans will stay just that, loyal. And this weekend at Coors Field is one of those special one’s Colorado fans are ready to enjoy.

It’s an anniversary this weekend in Denver, and the guest of honor is Coors Field itself. Today, the Rockies will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first game every played at Coors Field, and it’s going to be a lot of fun for everyone as Colorado takes on the Cincinnati Reds.

Yes, it’s hard to believe that Coors Field is one of the older venues in Major League Baseball, and it’s the second oldest ballpark in National League. And yet, the stadium in vibrant Downtown Denver is really standing the test of time. Coors is regularly voted one of the most fan friendly stadiums in MLB, and is also one of the top venues that players like to play in.

There’s a plethora of reasons why the stadium is so great, but there’s several all Rockies fans can agree on. So, as the Rockies take on the Reds today at 1:10 p.m. M.D.T. celebrating 30 years of Coors Field history, here’s the top five things fans love the most about the stadium.

5. Food and Drink Options

It would seem that all MLB ballparks have great food and beverage options. After all, it is America’s favorite pastimes. But one thing fans always rave about at Coors is its variety of food. You can get a traditional Rockies Dog and beer, or nachos and funnel cake. Yes, you can get Dip N Dots, which is another ballpark favorite, just like cotton candy. But, Coors also gives fans a true dining experience, with a huge variety of options, and something for everybody on every concourse.

4. 5280 and the Long Ball

Since it opened, Coors Field has been known for homeruns. In fact, the franchise was pretty worried in the early years of Rockies’ baseball that the altitude in Denver would be more of a hinderance to the club then a home field advantage. And yet, monster homers are one of the most iconic parts to Coors Field and its history, and though it’s true that visiting teams have had their share of success hitting at Coors, some of the most memorable moments in Rockies’ history are also homers that probably wouldn’t have been the same in another venue in another city. Yes, dingers are part of Coors’ charm and it’s something that Rockies’ fans have certainly embraced.

3. Rooftop Atmosphere

Most MLB stadiums have some kind of fan favorite part of the park. Coors Field has The Rooftop. Not only are the views incredible but there’s a slew of bars and entertainment features on The Rooftop that, in the spring, summer and fall, make it one of the social hubs of downtown Denver. That’s right, it’s not uncommon for fans to never even sit in the seats they purchased, but instead, meet up with friends and family on The Rooftop, because, it’s an amazing view of the stadium, a greta place to see the game, and, and even better place to spend an afternoon or a beautiful evening.

2. The architecture

There’s no denying, from all sides of the stadium, Coors Field is special. The brick facade, the steel gates, the towering scoreboard and the openings that enable fans to see inside the stadium from certain parts of Denver, Coors Field is not an average boring ballpark. Designers and architects ensured that Coors was not just a baseball field, or a great fan experience, no, they made sure it would be come an iconic piece of downtown Denver.

1. The views

This is a no-brainer. From day one, Coors Field has been known to have the best views of any venue in perhaps all of professional sports. The 360 views at Coors are incredible, especially of the snowcapped Rockies, but, those views also include the beautiful downtown skyline, Lodo and so much more. Yes, there are beautiful views in ballparks all over baseball, but, it’s hard to beat the views and sunsets you get on almost a nightly basis at Coors Field, and that alone is always worth the price of admission.
