On the latest episode of the Rox Pile Rockies Report podcast focusing on the Colorado Rockies, we take a look at the team as the final stretch before the All-Star break is underway … and look ahead to the MLB trade deadline and what that could mean for the current Rockies roster.

In our most recent podcast, we discuss the chances that the Colorado Rockies will be sellers at the MLB trade deadline … and just how much they really might sell.

After being swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers at Chavez Ravine, including a heart-breaking 2-1 loss on Wednesday night, the Colorado Rockies enter a four-game series at the Arizona Diamondbacks with a 35-47 record and in last place in the National League West. With four games in Arizona followed by seven at home (four against the San Diego Padres and three against the Pittsburgh Pirates), time is running out for the Rockies to turn things around and climb back into postseason contention before the Midsummer Classic.

If Colorado isn’t able to piece together a miraculous turnaround before the All-Star break, it simply makes sense that the team would trade off some of its players in hopes of getting prospects in return that can help the team in the near future. With the Rockies planning on players like Zac Veen, Drew Romo, Ezequiel Tovar, and others being a part of that not-too-distant future, does it make sense to keep players who might not be teammates of theirs once they finally reach the Majors? We discuss that as well who those players might be.

We also look at the possibilities of when those trades might happen, keeping in mind that two of Colorado’s biggest trade chips (Daniel Bard and C.J. Cron) could represent the Rockies in the All-Star Game.

Next. Trade possibilities for the entire active Rockies roster. dark
