The Colorado Rockies City Connect uniforms have been revealed – about one week before the team wears them. So now is the perfect time to get your gear.
The Colorado Rockies City Connect uniforms draw inspiration from a number of elements. There’s an homage to the state’s iconic mountains and pine trees, another to the state’s license plate and the ‘Welcome to Colorful Colorado’ sign.
And it is certainly a departure from what the Rockies usually wear.
The biggest difference you’ll notice is the color swap. Sure, there’s some Rockies purple incorporated (the Nike swoosh, piping along the jersey), but this thing is mostly green.
The mountain design on the front of the jersey is done in pine tree green, along with the back and side panels of the cap and the pants. “Colorado” is sprawled across the chest in the same font as the Colorado state license plate and a right sleeve patch shows off Denver’s mile-high altitude (along with the longitude and latitude of Coors Field and double-black diamonds).
The hat logo is outlined in both red (for Colorado’s distinct soil color) and gold (representing sunshine) and features “CO” in a circle.
“We wanted it to be a classic look, a Colorado look and there were other ideas bounced out there and about, going a little more wild or crazier than this, but we thought this would appeal not only to our younger fans and the younger generations, but we thought it would appeal to our older fan base,” Rockies vice president Jim Kellogg told ESPN. “It’s classic, it’s clean and that’s what people think of Denver and Colorado when they enjoy a ballgame.”
