It’s spring in the Midwest so, as per expectations, it will be a bit of an odd weather weekend for the Colorado Rockies and Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park in Detroit, Mich.

After it was in the high 20s and low 30s and snowing to begin the week, the weather by the end of the weekend could reach the 80s. But there will be more before that, especially on Friday, when Detroit Tigers DH Miguel Cabrera could become just the 33rd MLB player ever to reach 3,000 career hits.

Detroit forecast for Friday, April 22

For the Colorado Rockies-Detroit Tigers game at Comerica Park in Detroit on Friday, April 22, the two teams and fans will have to battle the weather to see Miguel Cabrera potentially hit his 3,000th career hit

The high will be around 54 degrees in Detroit with a slight chance of rain showers mid-day (around 20 percent). However, around game time, there’s a chance that storms will develop.

Starting at 6 p.m. (Eastern time, local time in Detroit), temperatures will dip below 50 degrees and the chance of rain will go up to 50 percent. By 8 p.m., the chance of rain will increase to 75 percent. The game is supposed to start at 7:10 p.m. ET.

Between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Saturday, there is a 90 percent chance of rain and Detroit is supposed to get close to half of an inch of rain.

On Friday, the Rockies are slated to send Antonio Senzatela (2.16 ERA, 2.95 FIP in 2022; 4.42 ERA, 3.61 FIP in 28 starts in 2021) to the mound. He will oppose Tarik Skubal (3.72 ERA, 1.32 FIP in 2022; 4.34 ERA, 5.09 FIP in 31 games/29 starts in 2021) for the Tigers.

Detroit forecast for Saturday, April 23

Saturday will be much sunnier and much warmer for the Colorado Rockies and Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park in Detroit.

For Saturday’s 1 p.m. game, the game-time temperature will be around 68 degrees with the chance of precipitation being lower than five percent. By the time the game will be concluding, it will still be sunny, clear, and in the mid- to high-70s.

Austin Gomber (7.00 ERA, 5.19 FIP in 2022; 4.53 ERA, 4.61 FIP in 23 starts in 2021) is the probable starter for the Rockies. Opposing him will be Beau Brieske, who will make his MLB debut. He hadn’t pitched above Double-A before this season but he made two starts for Triple-A Toledo with a 4.50 ERA.

Detroit forecast for Sunday, April 24

Sunday may be the nicest weather day of the three days for the Colorado Rockies and Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park in Detroit.

For Sunday’s 1 p.m. game, the game-time temperature will be in the low 70s, sunny, and clear. By the later innings of the game, it will still be sunny and clear with a high that may reach the low 80s.

The Rockies will send Chad Kuhl to the mound (0.87 ERA, 2.78 FIP in 2022; 4.82 ERA, 5.31 FIP in 28 games/14 starts for Pittsburgh in 2021). The Tigers will counter with Tyler Alexander (4.26 ERA, 2.13 FIP in 2022; 3.81 ERA, 4.39 FIP in 41 games/15 starts in 2021).

Overall, it should be a nice weekend for the series, especially after the cold and snow of earlier this week but there could be a rain delay on Friday at Comerica Park for the Rockies and Tigers.
