Heading into the 2022 season, bettors in Las Vegas and beyond are looking at Charlie Blackmon as the best candidate from the Colorado Rockies to win the National League Most Valuable Player honor. However, while he is on the leaderboard, Blackmon is still quite the long shot according to MLB preseason betting odds.

Charlie Blackmon is the only Colorado Rockies player to be listed on WynnBet’s preseason betting odds for potential National League MVP winners

According to the National League Most Valuable Player odds listed on WynnBet at the time of this writing (April 1), Colorado Rockies right fielder/designated hitter Charlie Blackmon has +10000 odds of winning the 2022 NL MVP award. He is one of eight players who have those odds, the highest that WynnBet lists.

As a note, that number means that any bettor who wagered $100 on Blackmon winning the award would win $10,000 if he was named as the NL MVP.

Blackmon has finished as high as fifth in the NL MVP voting during his 11-year career in Colorado. That came in 2017 when he led Major League Baseball with 213 hits, 14 triples, and 387 total bases, along with a slash line of .331/.399/.601. The .331 batting average earned him the National League batting title that season.

The 35-year-old Blackmon is coming off a campaign where he posted a 96 OPS+, his lowest number since 2012. His 13 home runs and .270 batting average last season were the smallest numbers in those categories he has posted in his career when playing in 100 or more games. However, Blackmon entered spring training this season with a few adjustments and lessons learned from the season that was.

While Blackmon was the only Rockies player listed on WynnBet’s NL MVP preseason odds board, former Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado has +2500 odds to snag the honor.

dark. Next. Who is projected to hit the most homers for the Rox in 2022?

Juan Soto of the Washington Nationals is listed as the NL MVP favorite at +275 while Ronald Acuña Jr. of the Atlanta Braves (+700), Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies (+750), and Los Angeles Dodgers teammates Mookie Betts (+900), and Trea Turner (+1000) round out the top five.
