In the last 96 hours (and especially in the last 24 hours), there have been a lot of free agent signings and rumors that have happened that will impact the 2022 Colorado Rockies, the NL West, or that involved some former Rockies.

The Colorado Rockies and the NL West have made a lot of moves

Kris Bryant has agreed to terms with the Colorado Rockies

If you haven’t heard the Colorado Rockies have signed free agent third baseman/outfielder Kris Bryant. Bryant will likely play one of the corner outfield spots for the team in 2021.

Bryant was the #4 free agent this offseason, according to MLB Trade Rumors.

Freddie Freeman

The Los Angeles Dodgers one-upped the Colorado Rockies late on Wednesday night when they agreed to terms with free agent first baseman and reigning World Series champion Freddie Freeman.

The contract will be for six years and $162 million so Rockies fans will see Freeman for 19 games in 2022.

Joc Pederson

The Colorado Rockies were linked to Joc Pederson on Tuesday but shortly after the Rockies signed Bryant on Wednesday, Pederson signed a one-year deal for $6 million with the San Francisco Giants so the Rockies will still see him plenty this season.

Kyle Schwarber

The Colorado Rockies had also been targeting outfielder Kyle Schwarber but he signed with the Philadelphia Phillies just a few hours before the Rockies inked Bryant. Schwarber got four years and $79 million.

Seiya Suzuki

The Colorado Rockies weren’t in on Japanese outfield import Seiya Suzuki as much as other free agent outfielders but Suzuki has signed with the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs gave Suzuki a five-year deal for $85 million plus a posting fee of $14.625M.

Eddie Rosario

We named Eddie Rosario as one of six realistic outfield free agent targets for the Colorado Rockies a few weeks ago (when nobody thought that the Rockies would get Bryant) and on Wednesday, he re-signed with the Atlanta Braves for two years and $18 million.

Alex Dickerson

Noted killer of the Colorado Rockies, former San Francisco Giants outfielder Alex Dickerson, signed an unorthodox deal with the Atlanta Braves. He signed a non-guaranteed MLB contract for $1 million. He was added to their 40-man roster but he has a minor league option remaining (which is the non-guaranteed part).

Andrew McCutchen

We also named Andrew McCutchen among those six options. He came to terms with the Milwaukee Brewers a few days ago but the deal was officially announced on Wednesday. It’s a one-year deal for $8 million.

Former Colorado Rockies who have inked deals

Four former Colorado Rockies players have inked deals with other teams in the last few days.

They include relievers Adam Ottavino, Greg Holland, and Yency Almonte as well as utility man Chris Owings.

Ottavino was the only MLB deal among the four as he signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the New York Mets. Holland inked a minor league deal with an invite to Spring Training with the Texas Rangers and Yency Almonte signed the same kind of deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Owings signed a minor league deal with an invite to MLB spring training as well and he signed with the Baltimore Orioles.
