Colorado Rockies pitcher today: Peter Lambert

Peter Lambert, 24, will be making his first MLB start since 2019 as he has been out since then with Tommy John surgery.

Lambert had been making minor league rehab assignments for the last five weeks. He made four starts in High-A Spokane and he did not have great results. In 7 2/3 innings, he had a 5.87 ERA. He walked six batters and hit two batters in those starts as well.

He had much more success in Double-A Hartford as in two starts there, he had an ERA of 3.18. In 5 2/3 innings, he allowed five hits, two runs, and struck out nine.

His last minor league start came in Triple-A Albuquerque last Thursday. In that start, he went 2 2/3 innings where he allowed three baserunners (two hits and hit a batter) but he didn’t walk a batter and did not allow a run.

It remains to be seen how long Lambert will be able to go in his start but, presumably, long reliever Ashton Goudeau will piggyback off of Lambert, who has not had a start longer than three innings. The Rockies will also have to make a 40-man roster move to activate Lambert off the 60-day IL as well as a 26-man roster spot.
