Rejoice, Colorado Rockies fans! After a long, sometimes quiet, sometimes stressful offseason, Monday brought us the kind of images that will do our hearts well.

With the Colorado Rockies full squad now present at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in Scottsdale, Ariz., the main focus in recent weeks has been on Nolan Arenado and his offseason back-and-forth with Rockies general manager Jeff Bridich. However, let’s never forget that Arenado is a man who simply loves to play the game of baseball.

One of Monday’s lasting images is a reminder that, no matter how tense things may get on the business side of things, Arenado is going to not only make an impact on the field, but also have fun doing it.

There has been plenty of talk this offseason about Daniel Murphy and his need to play better at first base in 2020 than he did last season. Well, Monday also gave us a reminder (as if we needed one after last year’s near collision with Toothy) that the 12-year veteran still has some fun on the diamond as well.

And, of course, let’s not forget one of the posts of several smiling faces from our favorite MLB social media account.

Sure, it’s still very early in spring training. Absolutely, the players were happy to see each other after a few months apart. However, for a team that everyone is wondering how the simmering feud between the face of their franchise and the front office will affect the squad, it’s an excellent reminder that getting back on the diamond can put a lot of other issues in the background.

What does the spring and season ahead hold for Colorado? Who knows. But, for now, some smiles and positive vibes were enough to make plenty of Rockies fans glad that baseball is actually back.
