Who would be in a possible deal?

First off, Rockies top prospect Brendan Rodgers (#14 overall prospect per MLB.com) would almost certainly have to be in a potential deal.

The Red Sox have a need at second baseman (Marco Hernandez is at the top of their depth chart at second baseman) and they would also improve their farm system, a system that has zero of MLB.com’s top 100 prospects.

The Red Sox would also be looking for some young outfielders too, since they are trading Betts from an already thin Red Sox outfield. In other words, add at least one of Sam Hilliard or Yonathan Daza.

Along the lines of both needing a second baseman and an outfielder, a trade would likely include Garrett Hampson as he could help fill at least one of those needs for the Red Sox.

Personally, I think that the Red Sox would want at least one of the Rockies top pitching prospects too. The two names that that come to mind are Peter Lambert and Ryan Rolison. I would think that they would want Lambert more because he could contribute to their MLB team in 2020, whereas Rolison likely would not.

I think that would get the Rockies in the ballpark. So, overall, here’s what a possible trade could look like.
