With some players coming off the injured list and a top prospect likely to be called up, the Colorado Rockies will likely soon have a roster crunch.

The Colorado Rockies will soon have some tough decisions to make as they will have a roster crunch in the very near future.

Rockies top pitching prospect Peter Lambert was scratched from his start with Triple-A Albuquerque last night and, on Friday, the Rockies will need a starter at the Major League level so Lambert will likely be the person to fill the role.

Also, the Rockies will likely activate outfielder Charlie Blackmon (right calf strain) and closer Wade Davis (left oblique strain) off the injured list either this weekend or some time in the next week.

So let’s take a look at some possibilities that the Rockies have.

Lambert

Barring somebody being transferred to the 60-day injured list, the Rockies will have to designate some player for assignment to add Lambert to the 40-man roster.

Some pitchers that may be DFA’d could be some pitchers in Albuquerque who have not pitched for the Rockies this season or pitched well at the Major League level, like James Pazos (who was acquired in late April in a trade with the Phillies), DJ Johnson, Ryan Castellani, or Justin Lawrence. With Pazos spending the least amount of time with the Rockies and the oldest, he is really the only one who may be DFA’d.
