The Colorado Rockies made it through February spring training games with a 2-4 mark, including a 9-3 win over division rival Arizona on Wednesday afternoon to end the month.

While may will say that you can’t tell much from spring training games, there has been plenty of news come out of Rockies camp in the early going. Hey, Charlie Blackmon is hitting lower in the lineup. How about Gerardo Parra being sidelined with surgery? How about the Rockies passing on all position free agents (minus catcher Chris Iannetta) thus far in spring training?

There is plenty to talk about when it comes to the Rockies, especially in their first six games in Scottsdale under the watchful eyes of Colorado coaches and management at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. With that in mind, let’s dive into some of the numbers that stood out to us in February and what potential application those could have to the rest of spring training and even to Opening Day.

Sure, there is a lot of fun in the sun happening in surprisingly chilly Scottsdale, but as the weather heats up, so will some of the position battles as well.
