Colorado Rockies and Hamilton: Yes, there could be some similarities
By Kevin Henry

How about Raimel Tapia, one of the Founding Fathers of speed on this year’s squad? There is no question that the 23-year-old outfielder is determined to make his mark in 2018 after getting 160 at-bats and posting a .288 average last season, including going 5-for-20 in September. Can he stick with the team out of spring training this year and earn one of the backup spots in the outfield?
What about Ryan McMahon, one of the Founding Fathers of promising futures on this year’s team? After playing a limited role in 2017, he is in line to compete for the starting spot at first base on Opening Day. Could he make his mark as the player who finally fills the chasm left at first base by Todd Helton’s retirement?
How about Jon Gray, one of the Founding Fathers of the wicked slider on this year’s team? After missing much of the first part of the 2017 season with a foot injury, Gray made strides on the mound last season toward becoming Colorado’s ace. However, a tough start that lasted just 41 pitches in the Wild Card contest has been something he’s had to live with in the offseason. You don’t think he is hungry to get back on the mound and shake off those memories?
What about David Dahl, one of the Founding Fathers of potential comebacks in all of Major League Baseball? After suffering a rib injury that kept him off the Major League roster for the entire 2017 season, there is perhaps no player hungrier to show off his skills again than the 23-year-old who tied a Major League record with his spectacular debut.
You see, there are plenty of actors who could play a lead role in what will be an entertaining season at Coors Field. And I didn’t even mention Nolan Arenado, DJ LeMahieu or Charlie Blackmon, three of Colorado’s leading men at any time of the season.

Hamilton tickets may be gone but there are still plenty left for the Rockies in 2018. It may not be a musical at Coors Field but the story that evolves as the season goes along will be one that you won’t want to miss.
