Next up to ask a question was Thomas Harding of MLB.com and he asked about how they decided to go with Davis instead of Greg Holland, who they had been in talks with for an extended period of time.
"We were involved in a number of different fronts, in terms of the reliever market, and specifically in the closer market…With Wade [Davis], it kind of happened quickly. There were conversations kind of going on over the course of a longer period of time but once we found a certain time frame, things kind of moved with a little bit of speed with Wade and his agent. You know, we just started talking the same language pretty quickly and I think that the motivations to move were similar…Once it happens and you gain some momentum and you realize that there is a chance for a deal, it all kind of came together quickly about a week ago."
Bridich was then asked a question about whether Davis was at the top of their list. He responded by saying that Davis or Holland were at the top of their list to get for the bullpen and they wanted to make sure to get one of them. Obviously, that did happen.
