Chad Bettis

Chad Bettis has really struggled in his past few outings. In his last outing against the Diamondbacks, he couldn’t get out of the first inning as he allowed five runs before being yanked. In his past five starts, he has an ERA of 9.15 with a .310 opponent batting average.

He’ll face former Rockie Jhoulys Chacin. In his past four starts, he is 1-1 with a 4.22 ERA. In his last start against the Rockies, he went 4 1/3 innings allowing five runs and three hits before the rain delay came. One thing of note, though, is that he has done really well at Petco Park this year as he has a 1.91 home ERA.

German Marquez

Marquez has struggled recently as in his past eight starts, he has a 5.79 ERA. In his past four starts (all in September), he has 5.95 ERA and a .348 opponent batting average. He did well in his start on Monday against the Giants as he went six innings only allowing three runs but his previous start against the D’Backs was not good as he allowed 11 hits and four runs in just 3 2/3 innings pitched.

He will face right-hander Luis Perdomo. He is the only probable starter for the Padres in the series that did not face them last weekend. He is 8-10 with a 4.57 ERA this season but, in his past four starts, he has a 3.09 ERA and a .258 opponent batting average (his last two starts were even against the D’Backs).

Carlos Gonzalez

Carlos Gonzalez has finally broke out in the month of September. In 16 games (15 starts), he has 20 hits, 16 runs, eight doubles, five home runs, 13 RBI, 11 walks, and a slash line of .385/.500/.827.
