Skip: And welcome back to our show! Let’s get right back to it. Announcer, who’s next?

Announcer: Next up on Rate the Rockies Bullpen is Adam Ottavino.

Crowd cheers

Skip: We just set a new high number with Boone Logan but I am guessing this one may go even higher. OK studio audience, vote now!

Music plays.

Buzzer sounds. Voting is done.

Drum roll and curtain pulls back to reveal a 10.

Crowd erupts into cheers.

Skip: Well, that’s no surprise there. The man has the same ERA as the number he wears. And that would be a big fat zero. In 21 appearances covering 16.1 innings, he’s not allowed a run, earned or unearned, this season. He’s easily been the most solid reliever of anyone coming out of the bullpen. Dare I say he’s been “Otto”-matic?

Crowd boos.

Skip: OK, OK, I deserved that. Announcer, we have time for one player today on Rate the Rockies Bullpen. Who is our lucky contestant?

Announcer: That would be Jordan Lyles.

Skip: Oh how will the show end? My goodness. Talk about a pitcher who has been all over the place this season for the Rockies. Well, let’s see what our audience says. Begin the voting now!

Music plays. Announcer in a hushed tone says, “I still cringe for Ryan Vogelsong. I really do.”

Buzzer sounds. Voting is done.

Drum roll and curtain pulls back to reveal a 7.

Crowd gasps.

Skip: Wait, a 7? Audience, you may have to help me with this one. Derek from Castle Rock, what do you think?

Derek: I voted him even higher than that.

Crowd gasps.

Derek: Lyles was nails on Monday night in Milwaukee, throwing three scoreless innings after Chad Bettis struggled so much. He’s what kept the Rockies in the game. After that performance, Lyles is 1-2 with a 2.55 ERA after the All-Star break. He’s also 2-2 with a 2.96 ERA in 22 games as a reliever.

Camera zooms in on a man and woman with jaws dropped.

Derek: I mean, come on, the guy had a 0.84 ERA in July. I know I didn’t like him as a starter for the Rockies but he’s done a good job in the bullpen. He’s absolutely a guy who has found a place in the bullpen. Hey, a trip to the pen helped get Jorge De La Rosa back on track and it looks like it’s done the same thing for Jordan Lyles.

Crowd claps while trying to shake off being so stunned by those stats.
