AltiTwo Talk Show – Winter Meetings Review

facebooktwitterreddit

After a few weeks (six!) off, the AltiTwo Talk Show is back and making its first appearance on RoxPile. We take a deep dive into potential landing spots for current Rockies Carlos Gonzalez, Charlie Blackmon, D.J. LeMahieu and Kyle Parker. We each created three potential trade partners and surprisingly chose six different teams to deal with.

We also talked about the Rockies winter meetings activity, particularly their Rule Five Draft strategy; drafting a guy and trading him instantly. Curious.

Finally, we get to the newly signed Rockies; relievers Chad Qualls and Jason Motte and first baseman Mark Reynolds. Spoiler Alert; Logan likes Reynolds more than I do.

Now many of you expected more out of Rockies GM Jeff Bridich at the winter meetings, but keep this in mind; there’s still plenty of time left in the offseason for something to happen. Not all offseason trades happen at the winter meetings. It’s just easier because all GM’s, coaches, agents and everyone who would make a trade happen are all in one place. Bridich could have planted some seeds for future deals while he was down there. He’s keeping things close to the chest, but I’m sure he’s got a few moves up his sleeve before Spring Training starts.

Let us know what you think of our trades! Whose were better; Logan’s or mine? We’ll be adding iTunes to our distributing platforms soon so our golden pipes can be taken on the go.

Next: What to Make of the Reynolds Signing

The Rockies signed a platoon partner for Ben Paulsen at first base. Is he an upgrade over Wilin Rosario?
