George Frazier has retired!

George Frazier is retiring from the Colorado Rockies’ ROOT Sports broadcasts!

Here’s what he had to say about all that:

"“I have some opportunities out there for me, and it’s just a matter of me choosing the right opportunity in the game of baseball. I have a great passion for the amateur game. I love the amateur game. My wife will tell you, I’ll say, ‘Let’s go eat a hamburger in Slick, Oklahoma,’ and she’ll go, ‘Where is he playing and what time?’ because I just want to go watch somebody I’ve heard something about who’s a good player. That’s something that I love. I love the college game. I like being around it. I think I can be an asset to a ballclub in that respect, as far as scouting, looking at arms.”"

Man, that is SO sad.

Nahhhhh, I’m just kidding.

Look, George seems like a genuinely good, pretty nice dude, and it’s not like he’s been an asshole on air or something. I’m sure he’s a good guy to hang out with in real life. But he’s just not a great broadcaster, and there’s no point in not being honest about that. Dude’s a world-class rambler extraordinaire.

But hey, it happens. I’m just looking forward to Ryan Spilborghs and Cory Sullivan in the booth next year (and no Jeff Huson, PLEASE, no Jeff Huson).
