Kyle Kendrick is up for the Roberto Clemente Award:

"Rockies pitcher Kyle Kendrick has been involved with two nonprofit agencies, the Global Down Syndrome Foundation and Special Olympics – Colorado, since he joined the Colorado Rockies Baseball Club in early 2015. The powerful message of giving back has long resonated with Kyle, and supporting organizations in his community has always been a priority. Since transitioning to the Rockies and immersing himself in the Colorado community, Kyle and his wife, Stephenie, have brought their Kendrick’s Krew program to the Rockies. Started in 2013 when Kyle was a member of the Philadelphia Phillies, the Kendricks partnered with the T-21 Club of the Delaware Valley to provide a memorable and unique experience for children living with Down Syndrome. For the Colorado chapter of the Kendrick’s Krew program, Kyle and Stephanie, with the help of the Rockies Community Relations Department, have been working with Special Olympics-Colorado and the Global Down Syndrome Foundation to determine each group of Kendrick’s Krew kids. Kyle and Stephenie continue to keep close connections with the nonprofit organizations they supported during their time in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Kyle’s relationships and community ties have left a legacy of community support and involvement in two states."

Kendrick’s had a tough season for sure, but he’s a class act on the field, and now we know more about how much of a class act he is off the field, too.
