Chad Bettis records his first big league hit

Congratulations to Chad Bettis! He had been 0-for-34 in 39 plate appearances (including one where he thought he had a hit last year, only to see it get changed to an error after the game) entering Tuesday night.

In hist first at-bat against Braves’ starter Mike Foltynewicz, Bettis hit a clean single up the middle.

The ball stayed in play for two more pitches — Jose Reyes eventually flied out to left field with the ball — but Bettis got it at the end of the inning, so I suppose all is right with the world.
