Here’s What Colorado Rockies Fans Should Expect The Rest Of This Season

Colorado Rockies At The Plate

The Rockies hit the ball really, really well, and they will still continue to do that even though Tulo is now gone. There are a few things to note, though, with the major one being that DJ LeMahieu probably ought to not hit in the five-hole the rest of the year.

He has wonderful attributes to hit second, or eighth (or ninth), but that five-hole game he had with five strikeouts against the Mariners on Monday night is probably indicative of the fact that he shouldn’t be in an RBI position this year. That’s not his game, no matter what Walt Weiss may say.

Other than LeMahieu, Nolan Arenado and Carlos Gonzalez are going to do exactly what it is they do, though I think safe money is on both to not be quite as hot as the hottest portions of their seasons to date.

With them, Charlie Blackmon is going to continue very quietly having the best season of his career.

From there, Kyle Parker, Brandon Barnes, Nick Hundley, and yes, even Drew Stubbs (plus a few September call-ups) are going to get their time.

All eyes ought to be on Ben Paulsen, though.

The almost-afterthought has quickly become the Rockies’ everyday first baseman, so much so that they sent Wilin Rosario back to Albuquerque last week.

Can Paulsen earn himself the first base job for good in 2016? He is auditioning for that role now (hell, maybe he’s already earned it).
