This Bird. This bird is hot right now. ‘Merica, man.

Wilin Rosario. Rosario got sent down from Denver this week, but in his three games back in Albuquerque, he’s a combined 10-for-15 with four home runs, seven RBIs, a stole base, and five runs. Good Lord, man.

DJ LeMahieu. Hey, he’s not getting extra base hits, but going 10-for-23 with a double and a triple in his last seven games is something you’ll take all day every day from your starting second baseman. DJ has withstood a couple of cold periods that looked like they might become midseason slumps, and by now, he’s going to finish very high in the NL batting race.

Carlos Gonzalez. CarGo has been average in the last seven calendar days (5-for-18, .278 with a home run and five walks in seven games), but this is more of a shoutout for what he did to win July Player of the Month for the National League. Monster, monster month for CarGo.

Chris Rusin. Well, the hitter Chris Rusin. 2-for-2, a home run, two RBIs, and a sacrifice bunt at the plate this week. Not too damn bad a week for a pitcher with a bat.

Yohan Flande. Two starts, ten innings, eight hits, three runs, three walks, seven strikeouts, a .229 batting average against, and his first Major League victory. He’s no starter and he can’t go much further than five innings a game, but he’s at least giving the club a chance to win in the games he’s been forced to start this season.

Justin Miller. Welcome (back) to the big leagues, Mr. Miller! Three games, four innings, one hit, no runs, no walks, and seven strikeouts. Does this guy have back end of the bullpen-type stuff? The Rockies are gonna give him a shot to find out as the year moves along.
