The New Britain Rock Cats, in their first season as the Colorado Rockies’ AA affiliate in the Eastern League, are coming down to the end of it. Come next season, the club will have moved up the road to Hartford, Connecticut, to become the Hartford Yard Goats, playing in a brand new stadium in Hartford.
I hear conflicting things about Hartford (like, does it suck? I hear a lot that it sucks), but I also hear that New Britain sucks, so I’m kinda confused about Connecticut as a place. Does the whole thing suck? I went to New Haven once and it sucked. I hear Bridgeport sucks. Is there no redeemable place in Connecticut? WHAT’S GOING ON?!
Ahem. Sorry. Ok, let’s talk Rock Cats.
The last week (4-3): The Rock Cats were a pretty standard just-above-.500 this past week, winning a series at home against the Reading Fightin’ Phils before heading out on the road to Binghamton to play the Mets’ AA affiliate for a mid-week series. The Rock Cats will host the Erie Sea Wolves for a series over the weekend.
All told, the Rock Cats have faded a bit since their hot start this year (everybody got promoted!), and the club is now 49-53 on the season, which puts them seven games out of first place in the Eastern League’s Eastern division.
