The Rockies’ payroll commitments this year make them the 20th highest in Major League Baseball, or, if you’re a cynic, the 10th lowest.
Deadspin has posted every single payroll – and every team’s salary commitments – ahead of the 2015 season, and the Colorado Rockies come in 20th out of 30 teams.
That Balls Outta Here
The Rockies’ payroll comes in at $102,006,130.
That’s just above the New York Mets and San Diego Padres, and just below the Milwaukee Brewers and Minnesota Twins.
Not surprisingly, the Los Angeles Dodgers have the league’s highest payroll, at $272,789,040.
The Miami Marlins have the smallest payroll, clocking in at $68,479,000, which represents just 25% of the Dodgers’ commitments.
Additionally, you can track each division’s payroll commitments by player.
Troy Tulowitzki is, of course, the Rockies’ highest paid player, making a cool $20 million this season.
Tulo is the seventh highest paid player in the division, behind Matt Cain (Giants), Matt Kemp (Padres), and four Dodgers (Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Adrian Gonzalez, and Carl Crawford).
The club is paying 12 players, including home opener starting pitcher Tyler Matzek, just above $500,000 this season.
