Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres, 8:00 P.M. EST

On Sunday night the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres will take the field for MLB Opening Night 2014. Yes, the Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks took the field last week in Australia, but this game will come with the usual, familiar opening night fanfare: a nice long episode of Baseball Tonight, Sunday Night Baseball, and so on.

The Dodgers enter this game with a 2-0 record under their belt, with two division wins to boot. They did just receive some tough news when they learned Clayton Kershaw will have to spend time on the disabled list with a balky back, but they still enter this season with the highest of hopes.

The Padres will look to surprise people, with some viewing them as a dark horse team in the NL. 2013 was an odd year for them in that it was their pitching staff that held them back. Bud Black and company will try to reverse that trend quickly in 2014 and get back to their pitching-first ways.

Pitching match-up:

LAD: Hyun-Jin Ryu, LHP, 1-0, 0.00 ERA
SD: Andrew Cashner, RHP, 0-0, 0.00 ERA
