Colorado Rockies Change-Up Batting Practice

The Colorado Rockies have changed their batting practice… hat. Yes, that’s right. I just roped you in just to tell you about a change in the logo of a hat you’ll probably never see on a Rockies player, unless you show up hours early to a game at Coors Field. Hey — in the midst of all the raging offseason news the Rockies have cultivated, this is huge!

The new ball cap looks a little bit like this:

Here is what the Rox wore last season for BP:

May 15, 2012; San Francisco, CA, USA; Colorado Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario (20) during batting practice before the game against the San Francisco Giants at AT

I really love the simple change. As Rockies fans, we really get the shaft when it comes to apparel supporting our team, and this actually has a legit chance to make it into the closet. It points towards why we call them the Rockies and I like a little something different then the plain-jane CR. I would love to see the Rox make it an alternate ballcap in the future. It might need cleaned up a tiny bit and made from wool, but it’s worth a shot right?
I have looked all over trying to find a better shot of it, but that is all I have for now. I did find a blurry shot of hitting coach Dante Bichette wearing one on the Colorado Rockies homepage in a story about the new season of commericials, but you can’t find the snapshot anywhere else… I’ll definitely keep my eyes peeled.

According to the Rockies Facebook page the hats will be available to the public February 22, 201 at all Rockies Dugout Stores.
