The Rockies (62-97) and Diamondbacks (80-79) begin the final series of 2012 tonight. With a win in one of the three games Colorado will avoid a 100 loss season, which will be a small victory in the abyss that was the 2012 season.
Drew Pomeranz (2-9) will make his final start of a largely forgettable rookie season, but is coming off one of his better starts on the year going 5 innings without allowing a run, giving up 3 hits with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts a victory over the Cubs. Pomeranz has faced the Diamondbacks twice in his career and is 0-1 with a 11.05 ERA over 7 1/3 innings. Wade Miley (16-11) has a chance at becoming the 6th rookie pitcher since 1986 to win 17 games and improve his chances at the N.L. Rookie of the Year award.
