National League West rivals face off tonight in Denver as the division leading San Francisco Giants (79-61) visit the last place Colorado Rockies (56-83).
After a seven game road trip that saw Colorado lose six games the Rockies return home for a short three game series against the Giants before head to the West coast to play in San Diego and San Francisco. Seven of the Rockies next ten games will be against the Giants. So far this season the Rockies are 3-8 against the Giants and are 1-5 in Coors Field.
Alex White (2-8) starts for Colorado and is coming off a loss in which he did not allow an earned run in a 1-0 loss to the Braves. Despite only giving up 2 hits, White walked four Atlanta batters and left after four innings with 71 pitches, less than half (45%) of those for strikes. Ryan Vogelsong starts for the Giants, in his last five starts Vogelsong is 2-2 with a 10.13 ERA over 21 1/3 innings. In his career he is 5-0 with a 2.22 against the Rockies, including a 2-0 record and an 4.66 ERA at Coors Field.
Jordan Pacheco has had the most success of any current Rockies player against Vogelsong with a .286 average (2-7) and one home run. Carlos Gonzalez has gone 1-11 (.091) off Vogelsong in his career.
