Colorado Rockies at New York Mets, 5:10 PM MDT
The Colorado Rockies (46-73) start a seven game road trip with the first of four games against the Mets (57-64). The Mets took two out of three games at Coors in the first meeting of 2012 between the two teams at the end of April. The last time Colorado visited Citi Field the Rockies swept the four game series in early April of 2011.
Alex White starts for the Rockies, since re-joining the rotation in August, White has yet to record a decision but has pitched well with a 3.63 ERA and the Rockies winning three of four starts. His control is still a work in progress leading to 11 walks over 17 1/3 innings and resulting in high pitch counts early in games. The Mets will send 2012 All-Star and Cy Young candidate R.A. Dickey to the mound, his 15 wins is one behind the NL lead and his 2.89 ERA is currently fifth. Dickey struggled in his last start, giving up five runs on ten hits over six inning in a 15-4 loss to the Reds. This will only be the second time that Dickey will face the Rockies in his career, he lost to Colorado in April of 2011 giving up five runs of 6 1/3 innings in a 6-5 Rockies win at Citi Field.
Only Dexter Fowler and Ramon Hernandez have face Dickey in the past, Hernandez is 0-4 while Fowler is 2-4 with a double. Charlie Blackmon will lead off and play right field in his second start of 2012. Andrew Brown will bat cleanup with Carlos Gonzalez still on bereavement leave and Michael Cuddyer on the DL.
