Rockies Line-up, August 12, 2012: Road series win?

facebooktwitterreddit

The Rockies (41-70) look to win another series on the road and win a road trip for the first time in donkey years. A win today would be a 4 wins out of 6, arguably the best road trip of the season so far. Alex White (2-6, 5.75 ERA) goes for the Rockies today versus the Giants Barry Zito (9-8, 4.19 ERA).

White looks to fix his control issues. In his last start against the Dodgers, he pitched 4 shutout innings but with 5 walks in a 3-1 Rockies win. In his last 7 starts he has walked at least 4 in four of those games. In his last 2 starts versus the Giants last September, he was tagged for 9 runs and 15 hits in just 9 2/3 innings.

Zito has a much better record versus the Rockies. In his last start versus the Rockies at Coors Field he threw a complete 4 hit shutout on April 9. At AT&T Park against the Rockies he is 3-1 with a 1.67 ERA in 8 starts.

The Rockies will look to cool off Buster Posey. Posey had a 2 run HR in yesterday’s game, and in August he is batting .444 with 6 HR and 14 RBI. The Rockies Carlos Gonzalez will hope to heat up again against Zito, he is lifetime 8-23 with a triple and a HR against him, but over his last 4 games he is a combined 0-11.
