After a strong all-round effort last night to beat the LA Dodgers (59-51) 2-0, tonight Alex White (2-6, 6.16 ERA) tries to follow up Drew Pomeranz‘ strong outing last night. In his last start against the Cardinals on August 2, White went 5 1/3 innings giving up only 2 earned runs in a no decision.
White has had mixed results against the Dodgers this year. On May 13 at Dodger Stadium he struggled, going on 4 1/3 innings with 6 earned runs in a loss. He had better luck at Coors Field on June 3, giving up only 2 runs in 6 2/3 innings.
White goes up against Aaron Harang (7-6, 3.76 ERA), who was roughed up by the Diamondbacks on July 30 giving up 7 earned runs in just 5 innings. However he has had success against the Rockies (39-68), where on May 12 he gave up one run in 8 innings and on June 2 just gave up one run in 6 innings (both wins).
The season series so far is currently tied 5-5. The Rockies have not won back-to-back games in a series since sweeping the Astros from May 28-31.
Carlos Gonzalez will look to continue his hot form. Last night he drove in RBI #74 with a sacrifice fly, and versus Harang he is 6 for 15 with a HR and 2 doubles.
