Rockies Lineup – August 4, 2012: McBride Debuts

In a desperate attempt to make it look as though things are changing, following the Rockies embarrassing 16-4 loss to the Giants last night, some roster moves have been made. Both Christian Friedrich (stress fracture in lower back) and Michael Cuddyer (strained oblique) have been put on the DL. Replacing them in the clubhouse tonight will be Edgmer Escalona and Matt McBride, who gets the start at 1st base. It’s McBride’s major league debut and, if you recall, he was one of the pieces in the Ubaldo Jimenez trade last summer.
Jeff Francis goes tonight for the Rockies, and I still believe in him despite a couple of tough outings recently. He’s the closest thing to an anchor we have right now in the rotation. Madison Bumgarner stands to be about as tough today as Ryan Vogelsong was yesterday, so the lineup will have to do work early.
